Baxter Regional Medical center's First Step is an inpatient medical stabilization service for those 18 years and older.First Step treats those who are suffering due to the effects of pain medications,drugs or alcohol and experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms.Through stabilization services and an ongoing desire to remain free of the burden of substance abuse,many individuals can resume and maintain healthy lifestyles. First Step offers a medically-supervised hospital stay,typically lasting 3 days.Admissions are planned and voluntary,Monday thriugh Friday.Discharge and aftercare referral plans are made prior to leaving the hospital.Accepting Medicare,Medicaid,most insurance plans and private care. Baxter Regional Medical Center's Inpatient Psychiatric Program for Older Adults is an acute, short-term program for patients aged 55 years and older in need of a secure, therapeutic environment 24 hours a day. Patients admitted to the inpatient service have an acute primary psychiatric diagnosis and exhibit severe symptoms, which may include one or more of the following: focus on non-specific physical complaints, confusion/disorientation, inability to care for self, depression, suicidal behavior and/or threats, aggressiveness/assault behavior, self-injurious behavior, sleep or eating disturbances, severe agitation, medication complications, psychosis, and obsessive-compulsive issues that interfere with daily living. The program is designed to quickly return individuals to their optimal levels of functioning outside the hospital through an intensive, structured, physician-supervised program that coordinates seamlessly with your services. The Inpatient Program includes psychiatric and physical assessment, 24-hour nursing and medical support, medical management and education, access to physical and nutritional therapy, individualized treatment planning, diagnostic testing, family education and support, basic life skill enhancement, recreational and/or occupational therapy, placement assistance, and individual and group therapy. Patients receive individualized communications from the treatment team to ensure full coordination of care, as well as a responsive referral process that is initiated with a single telephone call. A comprehensive medication assessment is given, as well as clinical management of patient comorbid conditions. Treatment involves a team consisting of a psychiatrist, social worker, and psychiatric nurse, 24 hour access, integrated follow-up with your staff to coordinate care as appropriate, and in-service sessions to keep your staff current with diagnostic and treatment trends in the behavioral health field. ...(Read More)
