Baxter County Juvenile Services is a division of the 14th Judicial District, Circuit Chancery Judge Gary Isbell presiding. Juvenile intake and probation officers work with both delinquents and families in need of services. The officers seek to utilize a balanced approach to address the needs of the youth, yet provide an opportunity for the juvenile to be held accountable for his/her behavior, at the same time protecting society. Baxter Day Service Center is a non-profit corporation whose administrative and support staff is under the direction of a Board of Directors. Our purpose is to provide developmentally disabled individuals with experiences which will enable them to achieve their maximum mental and physical ability along with obtaining their highest degree of independence. Realizing individual needs of the developmentally disabled person is basic to the philosophy of Baxter Day Service Center and steps are taken to meet these needs. We strive to build a supportive program of pre-vocational training and sheltered employment for developmentally disabled adults from ages 18 to 80. The curriculum includes physical, occupational, and speech therapy and is individually planned to enhance all areas of a child's development and to prepare the child for future school success. The Baxter House Adult Day Services Center provides low-cost day care for persons with mental or physical impairments and for those who can no longer stay home alone. Individuals with Alzheimer's disease, other memory problems, stroke victims, and extreme or frail elderly are all made to feel welcomed and cared for by our staff. The goal of our program is to offer participants devoted care and attention, delicious hot meals, structured recreational activities, physical exercise and social contact with others in a cheerful home-like atmosphere. Preserving the dignity and privacy of our participants is of great concern to us. Preserving the dignity and privacy of our participants is of great concern to us. The Baxter House Adult Day Services Center allows caregivers of dependent adults to keep working, to continue in community activities, and to obtain relief from the constant pressures of caregiving. By enhancing the daily lives of caregivers and program participants, we hope to make it possible for families to remain together as long as possible. We are a 501-C-3 non-profit organization. Our parent agency is Area agency on Aging of Northwest Arkassas. We are monitored by both the local Area Agency on Aging and the State Office of Long Term Care. Services include individualized plans of care, assistance with activities of daily living, continuous supervision, medication reminders, activities designed to stimulate each individual, simple exercise, entertainment and group activities, and assistance with simple physical therapy activities. For additional fees, transportation, , personal showers, and hot lunches are available.No fees for weekly hair washing or nail care.
